I’m an author. Ok, so this one is still a loose thing. I have self published a sweary adult colouring book on Amazon (What Cheek! By Rosemarie Neumayer) and because of that other authors have called me an author. But to me, that was illustration. I mean, yes, I did self publish a book but it’s one you get to colour in! The whole “author” thing is still an open to interpretation kinda thing. At least it is to me, you follow? I will be earning this title, in full, as time goes on.
Why “Star Oakes”? Star Oakes is my name. It was given to me by my father. I just didn’t know it till August of 2024, when I met my father in-person for the second time. The first time I met him was when I was a year and a half old. Is there a story here? You bet. I’m just not ready to tell it yet. It’s just too big for me, right now. Suffice it to say, in a parallel universe where paternal rights were a thing in the 1980’s, I grew up as Star Oakes. A name that feels so much more me than the borrowed one I grew up with, in this universe. My Dad is the person I get my writing talent from. I think it’s about time he got some credit for it too. And let’s face it, “Star Oakes” is a writers name.
I do have stories to tell. Ones that I plan on sharing with you all, soon. From a children’s book to a YA fantasy book to assorted short stories. I’m working on them all. When they are ready, they will need a home. A place where people can find them and me. This will be that home. Till then, I have my “Pocket Philosophy” page to share all the random bit’s of wisdom life has thrown at me. I hope you will connect with them or at the very least, find them amusing.
